Start the engine every 15 days and run it at a fast idle (accessories off, climate control system in “defrost” mode) until it reaches normal operating temperature.
FULL-HYBRID (FHEV) and PLUG-IN (PHEV) hybrid vehicles are at risk of moisture build up in the crankcase due to short engine run cycles experienced during storage. To avoid this, the Hybrid must be operated by starting the vehicle and turning the climate control system to the defrost mode in a high heat setting to cause the gas engine to run. After a few minutes the gas engine will start and should be allowed to run until the engine reaches full temperature. This process will remove any moisture that may build up in the crankcase.
Shift the transmission through all gears while the engine is running at idle speed.
