SECTION 2 CARRIER DROP-OFF & NEW CAR DELIVERY
2.9 PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION
2.9.1 Introduction
It is the Dealer's responsibility to inspect the quality and functionality of a new vehicle before the vehicle is put into storage or delivered to the customer. The Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is intended for this purpose.
NOTE: Detailed cleaning of the vehicle is considered part of the PDI process, and the cost of such cleaning is not covered by the Company.
The Company periodically inspects vehicles and reviews Customer Service Files to verify that new vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspections are performed according to Company standards. Under the Dealer Sales and Service Agreement, the Dealer is responsible for inspecting, conditioning, and repairing each vehicle before it is delivered to the retail purchaser. The Dealer:
- Should designate a specific area for performing new vehicle preparation.
- Should assign new vehicle preparation responsibility to selected personnel; certification is required to perform a Ford vehicle PDI.
- Must have the equipment necessary to properly prepare new vehicles.
- Must follow the Pre-delivery guidelines listed below.
