SECTION 2 CARRIER DROP-OFF & NEW CAR DELIVERY
2.9 PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION
2.9.2 Pre-Delivery Guidelines
Prior to customer delivery:
- The service department must check OASIS at the time of the Pre-Delivery Inspection for outstanding FSA-Customer Satisfaction Programs, Special Service Instructions and Field Service Actions (such as Update Prior to Sale programs). These checks must be performed prior to delivery to the customer.
- The Sales and Service Departments in the Dealership should work together to ensure an accurate retail delivery date that ensures these checks have been completed and any rectification works completed.
- The Service Department must prepare new vehicles according to the Pre-Delivery Inspection Record (checklist). The checklists are individualized by vehicle line and model year. Be sure to use the appropriate list for the vehicle being inspected (available on the PTS website). Ford vehicle PDI checklists are generated using electronic PDI (ePDI) (where applicable).
- A Pre-Delivery Inspection Record (checklist) must be completed for each new vehicle and retained in the Customer Service File or stored electronically when using Ford vehicle PDI (where applicable). Do not confuse the PDI checklist with the Sales Delivery checklist.
- The Service Department should perform any warranty repairs noted during the new vehicle inspection.
When a Pre-Delivery Inspection Record shows “Check” (or adjust, correct, tighten, top-up, etc.), required labour services are part of the pre-delivery fee. If fluids must be added, the actual quantity used may be claimed through OWS / SERVIS2 as a warrantable repair. Ford or Motorcraft branded material (excluding Motorcraft parts marked as HLAS - High Level Aftermarket Spec) must be used.
NOTE: Topping up of fluids including during the Pre-Delivery Inspection is only claimable for the fluid cost, not the labour component.
