A.3.2 When Does a Warranty Coverage Apply
In addition to all cars and light trucks sold, registered/licensed, and operated in the respective country of purchase in which a vehicle was originally sold, the Warranty coverages apply to cars and light trucks designed and built for sale and use in the market it was sold in, is as follows:
- Ordered through a post exchange or ship’s store of the U.S. Armed Services and shipped to the U.S. federalized territories or a foreign country, or
- Purchased from and delivered directly by Ford (e.g., U.S. Government, American Red Cross, Ford Direct Fleet Sales), or
- Purchased, registered/licensed, and operated in the original country of sale, but then taken by the owner (one who did not purchase the vehicle for resale purposes) to any foreign country for business/personal use.
- Sold as part of Ford Fleet sales in cases where vehicles are sourced from any given country from an authorized Dealer or Distributor within IMG, and then modified prior to sale to another destination country within IMG by a Ford approved or supported modification service provider. If, however, the modification installed components fails or causes a Ford warranted component to fail, the cost of the repairs is not covered by the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) or Service Part Warranty (SPW).
- In cases where the modification of the modifier is not Ford approved, it is recommended that the Dealer or Distributor contact their DOM or FSE in order to ascertain the component warranty coverage that will apply in conjunction with the Ford Warranty Department, based on the modification to be applied by the respective modifier, prior to finalising the fleet sales agreement.
In the above cases where warranty coverages does apply, the coverage that will be applicable are that of the selling or destination country, whichever is less. The respective vehicles have to be legally registered in the destination country for warranty coverages to apply.
If the vehicle presented for Warranty service falls into the categories listed above, the Company encourages that warranty service is provided, and the repair submitted as usual in OWS (One Warranty Solution) or SERVIS2 at no cost to the customer, as the preferred route.
- In cases where the warranty coverage is uncertain, the Dealer or Distributor can request assistance from the respective Dealer Operations Manager (DOM) or directly to the Ford Warranty Department
- If warranty coverage is still undetermined, the customer may:
- Pay the servicing dealer for the repairs and then take the invoice (and replaced parts if possible) to a Ford Authorized Dealer or Distributor for in their home country for a refund consideration
- No refund will be considered if the vehicle does not return to the home country
