Section A – Warranty Policy Manual
A.2 CARRIER DROP-OFF
A.2.2 Receiving and Inspecting New Vehicles
The receipt of vehicles and the regulations for submitting and settling loss and damage claims are governed by the Local regulations. These regulations protect both the Dealer and the Carrier. According to the Dealer Sales and Service Agreement, the ordering Dealer becomes the owner of a new vehicle when it is turned over to the Carrier at the assembly plant. Under this agreement, it is the Dealer’s responsibility to accept new vehicles.
NOTE: Vehicles sent out on consignment are an exception to this responsibility; they remain the property of Ford Motor Company.
It is the Dealer’s responsibility to inspect new vehicles received by the Dealership and document any damage, with photos, to the vehicles or any conditions which caused them to differ from the new vehicle order. Warrantable conditions are not considered transportation damage, which should not be noted on the Bill of Lading / Delivery Receipt/ VSR and should be claimed as warranty.
NOTE: Ford normally prohibits the sale of vehicles as new if they require significant repairs (Please contact the OCC for more information).
