This involves any condition which could have contributed to personal injury or property damage. In such a case contact the CRC for further information.
IMPORTANT:
NOTE: Parts involved in accident, personal injury, or property damage MUST NOT be scrapped (regardless of time) until authorized by the Company.
For additional information refer to Consequential Expense.
A.3.13.3 Adjustments & Alignments
Adjustments required to correct factory defects (no parts replaced) are reimbursable if they are not:
Adjustments are minor corrections resulting from use and operation of the vehicle. Prior to delivery and at the first service*, Dealers are required to complete all applicable inspections and adjustments required as refinements to the production process. Therefore, after the pre-delivery and first service*, any adjustments required are not covered by warranty. This does not include adjustments to front wheel alignments. For this item, please refer to Wheel Alignment.
NOTE: * first scheduled deductible (paid for by the customer) service as outlined in the owner’s handbook or Ford specifications for the vehicle. The limit of warranty coverage for items covered up to the “first service” shall be no more than 5,000 kilometres beyond Ford’s first scheduled service recommendations.
The following are the exceptions for Adjustments stated above:
Accessory Drive Belt Adjustment
All engine drive belts are wear and tear items. Only claimable if failure is a result of defects in factory materials or workmanship.
Boot, Bonnet and Door Realignment
Boot, Bonnet and Door Realignment will be reimbursed up to the first service as per other adjustments.

Valve clearance adjustments are a maintenance item and are therefore not claimable under warranty.
Windscreen Washer Adjustment
AWindscreen washer adjustment is covered in the Pre-Delivery Inspection procedures and is therefore not to be made the subject of a warranty claim.
A.3.13.4 Air Conditioning Components (Including Refrigerants)
New Vehicle Warranty
Air Conditioner Refrigerant (R134A & R1234YF) - Unless reclaimed refrigerant is contaminated from the failure, the amount of refrigerant that can be claimed for an air conditioning system repair is limited to the difference between full vehicle charge amount and the reclaimed charge amount, not to exceed the refrigerant capacity of that vehicle (unless reclaimed refrigerant is contaminated from the failure). For occasional situations where “leak checking” is necessary, a small additional amount can be claimed. Please refer in this section for maximum allowable amounts.
Where the Dealership uses a recovery and recycling unit the Dealership may only claim for the estimated amount of refrigerant used. Only where there has been a 100% loss of the refrigerant, evidenced by the type of repair, will a 100% claim for refrigerant be accepted.
Dealers electing to use sublet repairers must ensure that the amount of refrigerant shown on the sublet invoice does not exceed maximum system capacities and that labour charges do not exceed Ford SLTS/rates (please refer to Section Conditions of Sublet Repairs). A Dealership must not use a specialist repairer where the Dealership workshop is equipped to conduct the repairs.
A/C Recovery/Recycling Equipment – Ford Rotunda approved recovery/ recycling equipment is recommended when performing warranty service on air conditioning systems. Repairs performed without the use of recovery/recycling equipment are not eligible for reimbursement.
The following information must be included with your warranty claim:
The “Reclaim” and “Recharge” amounts must be documented in the warranty claim in the Technician Comments field.
IMPORTANT: The A/C service information noted above must be printed at the completion of the repair and retained within the Customer Service File.

8 oz (227 grams) for systems with refrigerant charge capacity of 45 oz (1,276 grams) to 55 oz (1,559 grams)
NOTE: For A/C system refrigerant charge capacity, please refer to the applicable Workshop Manual Section 412-00, Electrical – Climate Control System – General Information – Specifications. Please ensure that the correct A/C Refrigerant Charge Capacity Chart is used based on the vehicle being serviced, i.e., Model, Model Year, Engine, A/C system and Refrigerant used.
A.3.13.5 Airborne Material (Environmental Fallout)
Dealers are responsible for inspecting all new vehicle arrivals from the Carrier. Where environmental fallout or other airborne material damage is evident, the Dealer should note the damage on the VSR or EPOD prior to commencing any repairs. If the damage is noted at PDI, then the vehicle may be repaired provided that any necessary Prior Approvals are obtained. Vehicles with environmental damage are covered provided prior approval is lodged within 30 calendar days of the vehicle arrival at the Dealership. Airborne damage not noted on the VSR or EPOD and not repaired during PDI will be considered the responsibility of the selling Dealer and not covered by Ford warranty.
Environmental conditions not covered:
This policy does not cover surface rust and deterioration of paint, trim, and appearance items that result from use and/or exposure. Some examples include:
Reimbursement for damage to vehicles caused by a SINGLE, IDENTIFIABLE, CATASTROPHIC event (e.g., overspray from a crop duster) should be sought through the Dealership’s insurance company, not Ford.
Dealerships are responsible for minimizing damage from environmental fallout during inventory storage.
Owners are expected to wash and wax their vehicles frequently to remove harmful deposits from the vehicle’s surfaces to help protect the finish.
A.3.13.6 Alterations or Modification
All alterations or modifications of Ford Motor Company vehicles must be done in compliance with all applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations.
The installation/use of any non-Ford product will not necessarily void the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty. If, however, the non-Ford product fails or causes/contributes to a Ford part failure, the cost of the repair and any related damage are not covered by the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Service Part Warranty or Extended Service Plan. The vehicle owner should consult the manufacturer or installer of the non-Ford product for repairs.
For example, the New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover damage caused by:
A.3.13.7 Antennas

A.3.13.16 Brake System Fluid
Brake fluid is only reimbursable when added as part of a warrantable repair where a defect in factory materials or workmanship has caused the failure. Fluid alone is not reimbursable. Topping up of brake fluid during the PDI is only claimable for the fluid cost, not the labour component (please refer to Pre-DeliveryGuidelines).
A.3.13.17 Brake Wheel Cylinder
Replace the complete wheel cylinder (Drum brakes only).
Repair the cylinder only when a complete assembly is not available and the cylinder is repairable
A.3.13.18 Camshaft Drive Belt
Camshaft drive belts (including those that are submersed in engine oil by design) are wear and tear items and are not claimable unless a defect in factory materials or workmanship has led to their premature failure. This must be clearly identified on the claim
A.3.13.19 Clutch Lining (Disc & Dual Clutch Assemblies used in Dual Clutch Transmissions (DCT))
Replacement of clutch lining due to normal wear and tear is a maintenance service and is not reimbursable. If, however, the lining wear-out is due to a factory defect in material or workmanship, the clutch lining is reimbursable during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage. The claim should be annotated with the specific defect.
A.3.13.20 Comebacks & Repeat Repairs
Not reimbursable. Comebacks or Repeat Repairs (second or subsequent attempts to correct the same complaint by a Dealership, including other Dealer-owned stores) will be charged back if adequate technical information was published at the time of the original repair.
A.3.13.21 Company-Owned Vehicles

A.3.13.25 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)
All Diagnostic Trouble Codes (including sub bytes e.g., DTC U3000:49) retrieved during the initial diagnosis of a repair must be recorded (or attach diagnostic equipment printout) on the hard copy and recorded in the DTC and Technician Comments fields in OWS / SERVIS2.
A.3.13.26 Diesel Fuel Usage
Use only the recommended fuel as mentioned in the Owner’s Manual. Engine and exhaust systems were designed to only use this fuel. Using low sulphur diesel fuel (16-500 ppm) or high sulphur diesel fuel (greater than 500 ppm) in a diesel engine designed to use only ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel will cause certain emission components to malfunction which may also cause the "Service Engine Soon" light to illuminate indicating an emissions-related concern.
IMPORTANT: Damage as a result of improper fuel usage is not covered under the terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
BIODIESEL fuel is a product that has been converted from renewable fuel sources, including vegetable oil, animal fat and cooking oil. Biodiesel should comply with ASTM D6751 or an equivalent specification.
Use of biodiesel in concentrations greater than allowed for the specific diesel engine design may cause damage to vehicles fuel system components such as fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel sender and fuel injectors. Concentrations greater than allowed can also cause fuel filter restrictions that may result in a lack of power and or fuel pump and fuel injector failure.
For allowable % of BIODIESEL Fuel refer to the Owner's Manual for that vehicle.
IMPORTANT: The use of home heating oil, agricultural fuel or any fuel not approved for your engine may result in damage to the fuel injection system.
A.3.13.27 Engine components
Claims due to defects in factory materials and workmanship are reimbursable. Dealers are reminded that claims will not be reimbursed for engine damage caused by:
NOTE: The Dealer should be aware of these limitations when repairing modified vehicles. Please refer to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Other Alternative Fuels for additional information.
NOTE: Engine and/or fuel system damage caused by contaminated fuel, unapproved fuels, or poor fuel quality is not covered under Warranty. For more information on approved fuels, see the vehicle’s Owner’s Manual and “Diesel Fuel Usage” further down in this section.
IMPORTANT: Warranty service on Ford engines may only be performed by Ford Dealers.
A.3.13.28 Electric Powered Vehicles (Vehicles converted to electric power)
Ford Motor Company vehicles that have been converted to electric power generally are covered by the Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
The warranty, however, will not cover any part or component that has been affected by a modification to or conversion of the vehicle that was performed by anyone other than Ford Motor Company. The following components will typically not be covered by the Ford warranty on vehicles that have been converted to electric power:
Components such as sheet metal, paint and interior trim would typically continue to be covered by the Ford warranty. Each warranty claim, however, must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the servicing Ford Dealer. Such caution is recommended by the Ford Motor Company because a conversion to electric power may have adverse effects upon the operation or durability of the converted vehicle that cannot be foreseen by Ford Motor Company. If assistance is required in a repair situation, you should contact your Ford Regional Office Representative.
A.3.13.29 Emergency Repairs & Backordered Parts (non-visiting and visiting owner)
Emergency repairs are repairs where the vehicle cannot be operated safely and it is not acceptable or reasonable to have the repair of the vehicle conducted at a Ford Authorized Dealership. The repairs that are to be conducted are only to be performed to the extent that the vehicle can be operated safely and enable it to be taken to a Ford Authorized Dealership. Matters of convenience or time constraints are not considered a valid justification for an emergency repair.
The Company will review emergency repairs by an outside repairer when there is no Ford Dealership available or the Dealership’s Service Department was closed at the time the repairs were required.
Emergency repairs must be conducted by a qualified servicer or repairer. All claims for emergency repairs must be supported by the relevant tax invoice which includes suitable documentation that outlines the repair/s conducted. Repairs without a tax invoice will not be reimbursed.
If the Company determines that it would have accepted a Warranty claim or a Goodwill claim, it will make a payment upon proof from the Dealership that the claim complied with this Manual, and the Dealership has made the same reimbursement to the customer.
NOTE: Emergency repairs may not be conducted by a non-qualified person for the purposes of reimbursement.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to follow the required parts ordering and parts Backorder Escalation processes before proceeding with repair that may exceed the cost-effective standard.
NOTE: Parts ordering & Backorder Escalation processes can be found on the FMCDealer portal.
Supporting Document Requirements
The following documents must be retained in the Customer Service File in accordance with the Record Retention policy following Company notification of payment:
An explanation of the reason for using the Ford Authorized Remanufactured, Motorcraft or new non-Ford part must be entered in the Warranty Claiming System.
When the “Actual Cost” of the outside part (OSP) or locally purchased Ford part is GREATER than the equivalent Ford part “Dealer Price”, the part price difference is reimbursable if the repair qualifies as an emergency repair based on the guidelines noted above. The price difference is reimbursable at actual cost. There is no parts allowance/mark-up on the price difference amount.
A.3.13.30 Fluids & Fluid Usage Guidelines (oils, lubricants, coolant, refrigerant)
Use only Motorcraft or Ford brand oils, lubricants, fluids, and refrigerant unless specified otherwise in Company publications. Without supporting documentation justifying their use (eg., emergency repair), these are not reimbursable and are subject to chargeback.
If oils or coolant were to be changed during a scheduled service and therefore charged to the customer as part of that service, but the vehicle also requires a warrantable repair that results in the same oils or fluids being replaced, then the cost of those oils or fluids must still be charged to the customer. Top up of lubricants added as part of a warrantable repair where a defect in factory materials or workmanship has caused the failure is reimbursable. However, oil/fluid top up alone is not reimbursable. Topping up of oils or coolants during the PDI is only claimable for the oil/fluid cost, not the labour component (please refer to Pre-Delivery Guidelines).
Engine Oil Usage Guidelines
NOTE: When an owner complains of oil usage (consumption), the Dealership must determine the amount of oil the engine uses before any major engine repairs are started. The owner should be told to return to the Dealership each time the engine needs oil. The amount of oil, the date, and the mileage on the vehicle when the oil is added must be recorded in a “LOG” maintained by VIN. (please refer to DEALERSHIP ADMINISTRATION).

Aftermarket conversions for the use of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) or biodiesel or bioethanol are not covered by Ford Warranty. Additionally, claims against any components affected either directly or as a consequence of any conversion must be referred to the supplier or installation agent of the conversion. Biodiesel - fuel resources such as RME (Rape Methyl Ester) and SOME (soybean methyl ester), collectively known as FAME (fatty acid methyl esters), are being used as alternatives and supplements for mineral oil derived fuels. The use of these fuels in concentrations above 7% in unmodified Ford vehicles causes the softening of seals and possible fuel leaks and may cause damage to the fuel injection system. Damage caused as a result or consequence of using higher concentrations of biodiesel in unmodified Ford vehicles is not covered by Ford warranties. Bioethanol - the use of this petrol/gasoline alternative or supplement in concentrations above 10% causes damage to unmodified Ford vehicles. Therefore, petrol/gasoline containing a blend of more than 10% ethanol must not be used in unmodified Ford vehicles. Damage caused as a result or consequence of using higher concentrations of ethanol in unmodified Ford vehicles is not covered by Ford warranties.
NOTE: Some markets may sell vehicles with different alternative fuels to those listed above (such as E20 or E85 ethanol blends). In these cases, please refer to the Service Guide for further information.

A.3.13.58 Rattles and Squeaks
Rattles and squeaks are covered up to first service, however rattles and squeaks can be claimed up to 1,000 kilometres (Prior Approval guidelines may still apply) in unusual circumstances. The Dealership should only rectify these concerns on a customer complaint basis. Tightening of suspension nuts and bolts is a maintenance item and is therefore not covered under warranty.
A.3.13.59 Rear Seat Entertainment System
New Vehicle Warranty Coverage
Covered:
- Labour to remove and install the center console assembly for the purpose of system diagnostics is reimbursable.
- Diagnostic assistance is available by contacting the Ford Technical Assistance Center.
Not Covered:
Ford Motor Company DOES NOT cover damage to, or failure of, a Rear Seat Entertainment component caused by abuse or neglect. The following inspection criteria must be used by Dealership personnel to determine if a Rear Seat Entertainment System is eligible for warranty replacement.
- Carefully inspect the console inside and out for liquid residue. Determine if all buttons and knobs operate freely - liquid frequently causes buttons to stick or require excessive pressure to actuate.
- After the console is removed from the vehicle, inspect the top and bottom cover for signs of liquid residue.
- Inspect the CD/DVD player area and interior of player for pry marks, especially if a CD/DVD is in the deck and will not eject.
- Open the CD/DVD player area and look carefully at the internal components to see if there is evidence of anything being bent or broken. Also, look for loose parts or foreign objects (such as coins)
Customer-Produced Media (DVDs)
- Due to the wide variety of hardware and software available to the customer, some customer-produced DVDs will not be playable on Ford Rear Seat Entertainment Systems or Family Entertainment Systems.
- Customer-produced DVDs may be playable in other customer owned systems, but not in the vehicle’s system. This is not evidence of a warrantable defect in the system.
- If the DVD player in question is able to play commercially produced DVDs, DO NOT REPLACE. Rather, explain to the customer that the media is incompatible with the vehicle’s player.
- Failure to comply with this policy may result in a claim being Reversed.
A.3.13.60 Remanufactured or Reconditioned Parts
The following Ford remanufactured, or reconditioned parts may be used for New Vehicle Limited Warranty, ESP, Customer Loyalty Programs, Service Part Warranty, and other program repairs paid by Ford AFTER new vehicle delivery.
Ford remanufactured or reconditioned assemblies should NEVER be used to repair UNSOLD vehicles or vehicles less than 12 months old or with under 20,000 kilometres on the odometer. When a new part is required for an unsold in-stock vehicle in which the service part exists only as remanufactured, refer to Ordering New Parts for Unsold In-Stock Vehicles.
- Ford remanufactured or reconditioned engines and transmissions are warranted by Ford for the duration of 2 years (or) 50,000 kilometres, (whichever occurs first).
- Ford remanufactured small part assemblies are warranted by Ford for the duration of the Ford Service Parts Warranty or the remaining portion of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever is greater.
- When a Ford remanufactured, or reconditioned assembly fails and must be replaced under Service, Parts Warranty and Handling Allowances for Ford-Paid repairs still apply to the second exchange.
- Reimbursement for damaged cores on warranty/ESP repairs should be obtained directly from the Ford Authorized Manufacturer
IMPORTANT:
It is the Dealer's responsibility to obtain applicable Prior Approvals before carrying out the repair. Repairs commenced without Prior Approval will not be claimable.
Please refer to A.3.21.3 Ford Remanufactured & Motorcraft parts coverage/usage for additional information.
A.3.13.61 Repair Validation Codes (RVC)
Advanced Diagnostic Tests (ADTs) are an enhanced diagnostic procedure required for specific components. RVC requirements vary by component, vehicle, vehicle model year and repair date. The listing of Components with an Advanced Diagnostic Test (ADT) and/or a Repair Validation Code (RVC) requirement can be found on the FMCDealer.com. within the link titled ‘Components requiring a Repair Validation Code’ and on the Professional Technician Society (PTS) website under the ‘Technical Assistance’ tab.
Repair Validation Codes (RVCs) contain thirteen digits and are generated at the end of a fully completed ADT. RVCs are required and MUST be included to claim certain components / modules and/or specific labour operations on a warranty repair.
NOTE: Includes Warranty and Ford & Lincoln Protect paid repairs but excludes Over the Counter (OTC) repairs.
NOTE: If an RVC is required for the completion of a Technical Service Bulletin, the requirement will be clearly stated in the instructions.
A.3.13.62 Replacement or Repair Policy Engine/ Transmission Assemblies
The approved procedure is to repair or replace component parts within an assembly, rather than replacing the entire assembly (assembly does not refer to a short block 6009). The only exceptions to this procedure are when:
- Dealer-owned vehicles are not eligible and must follow normal repair guidelines
- Dealers must use OASIS to verify repair procedures (e.g., SSM, TSB, FSA) for external and internal to the assemblies. TSBs and FSAs which are directed repairs must be followed and do not apply to this policy.
NOTE: Warranty & Policy Guidelines must be followed, and Dealership warranty responsibilities still apply. Example: Documenting the 3 C’s (Concern, Cause, & Correction) and replacing one-time use parts. Failure to comply with documentation requirements could result in a claim adjustment or denial. - Engine (LTIS)
- Diagnostic Testing/Results/observations must support internal Short Block Damage. If the Diagnostic Process determines that a disassembly of internal components is required of the Short Block (e.g., Piston/ Bearings/Rings/Crankshaft), REPLACE THE LONGBLOCK ASSEMBLY (6006). IMPORTANT: Examples of repairs that can be performed without disassembling the short block must be completed. This policy is short block only - Including, but not limited to: Head Assembly, Oil Pan Gasket / Rear Main Seal, Head Gasket, Timing components (cam, chains, tensioner).
30 Day Assembly failure
- A repair is required on an SPW or OTC engine or transmission assembly that was installed within the last 30 days/unlimited mileage and the repair cost exceeds $500. In this case, the Dealer may repair or replace the assembly at their discretion. Prior Approval guidelines may still apply
Disassembly reveals that the assembly cannot be repaired.
The assembly replacement is authorized in this Manual or other Company publications.
The part or parts required to repair the assembly are not available from the Ford Parts Distribution Center (PDC) System.
- (Refer to Emergency Repairs/Backorder Parts & Record Retention.)
The repair cost exceeds the cost of an assembly replacement.
- The decision whether to repair or replace an engine or transmission assembly is at the Dealer's discretion to perform the most cost-effective repair.
IMPORTANT: Prior approval may be necessary to replace an engine or transmission assembly. Please refer to PRIOR APPROVAL. Follow the required parts ordering and parts ordering and parts 2V VOR Escalation processes before proceeding with a repair that may exceed the cost-effective standard. 2V VOR part(s) can be shipped directly from the Supplier, if properly ordered “Emergency Unit Down”. Ford Parts Ordering & 2V VOR Escalation processes can be found on the FMCDealer portal /Parts & Service Bulletins and Letters/Dealer Bulletins.
IMPORTANT: With the one exception noted below, Ford remanufactured or reconditioned engine assemblies, when available, must be used in all New Vehicle Limited Warranty, Field Service Action (recalls), and ESP repairs when the repair vs. replace decision indicates the replacement using a remanufactured or reconditioned unit is the most cost-effective repair.
EXCEPTION: For a vehicle within the first 12 months / 20,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first) of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period, where the most cost-effective repair requires an assembly replacement, Dealers should use a brand-new assembly from Ford.
NOTE: If a remanufactured assembly is not available or not available in an efficient manner or where the customer is demanding a new assembly instead of a remanufactured one, Dealers must obtain a Prior Approval through TAC to use the new assembly.
NOTE: The reason the repair cost is higher than the replacement cost must be entered in the Repair Description area of the claim form.
Assembly Inspection, Repair vs. Replace Determination
When it is necessary to take an assembly apart and reassemble it after determining it cannot be repaired, the associated labour is reimbursable and should be listed on the repair with the replacement assembly. Labour reimbursement can be claimed for assemblies using the applicable SLTS labour operation if available OR using actual time. All actual time recording policies must be followed.
Dealerships must adhere to Replacement or Repair Policy on the following assemblies:
- Engine**
- Transmission**
- Transaxle**
A.3.13.63 Replacement or Repair Policy Components
The approved procedure is to repair or replace component parts at the lowest serviceable level. The only exceptions to this procedure are when:
- The next-level part replacement is authorized in this Manual or other Company publications.
- The part is not available from the Parts Distribution Center (PDC) System (Refer to Emergency Repairs/Backorder Parts & Record Retention).
Labour reimbursement can be claimed for assemblies using applicable SLTS labour operation if available OR use actual time. All actual time recording policies must be followed.
A.3.13.64 Shop Supplies
Normal shop supplies such as adhesives, lubricants (tubes or sprays), solvents/cleaners, rust inhibitors, thread lock, rags, film, electrical tape, etc., are not reimbursable. This list of miscellaneous items is not intended to be all inclusive. It should act as a guide for claim compilation purposes. The following Charts are examples of Shop Supplies vs. Non-Shop Supplies.
Examples of Shop Supplies:
EXCEPTIONS: The above shop supplies may be reimbursable for the following claim types:
Examples of “Non-Shop Supplies” needed for a specific repair/engine:
NOTE: Workshop sundries, environmental levies or charges of this nature must not be included as a warranty claim.
A.3.13.65 Spark Plug or Glow Plug Replacement
Spark plugs have scheduled replacement intervals therefore claims must not be submitted where the spark plugs have equaled or exceeded the normal service limits.
Glow plugs don’t normally have scheduled replacement intervals but are certainly wear and tear items. Glow plug life can be affected by the vehicle’s operating conditions. For example,
Spark plug or glow plug claims will be accepted if the failure is due to a defect in factory materials or workmanship during the vehicle warranty period.
As spark plug or glow plug-related engine concerns are usually caused by a single spark plug or glow plug, claims are generally not reimbursable for complete sets of spark plugs or glow plugs unless directed by latest service publication (i.e., TSB, FSA, SSM etc.,).
A.3.13.66 Specialized Equipment
Components sometimes fail due to adverse operating conditions caused by the fitment of specialised equipment (for example, wiring punctured or damaged by aftermarket accessory fitment). Any such claims are not reimbursable and should be referred to the installer of the specialized equipment.
Where a Ford component has failed due to defects in factory materials or workmanship and that requires the removal and re-fitment of non-genuine factory components (e.g. storage racks, a refrigeration unit, canopy etc), the removal and re-fitment of these components is also reimbursable provided the time to do so is reasonable. Justification for the time taken must be clearly outlined in the warranty claim.

New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Replace complete assembly & record the odometer (with photograph as documentary evidence) replaced.
A.3.13.68 Supplier Direct Ship Parts (SDS) (Supplier Branded)

A.3.13.69 Suspension Springs or Shock Absorbers
Covered if the failure is as a result of defects in factory materials or workmanship. However, replacing suspension springs or shock absorbers to improve visual appearance, payload capacity or ride under specific conditions (for example, towing a particular vehicle or carrying a particular load) is not considered a defect in factory workmanship or materials and is therefore not reimbursable.
A.3.13.70 SYNC Hands Free Communication and Entertainment System
New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage - Program updates to correct the functionality or current features of SYNC are also covered.
NOT COVERED: A.3.13.71 Tyres / Tires
Tyres and tubes (where fitted) are generally not covered by the Ford Vehicle Warranty but are covered by the warranties of their respective manufacturers or suppliers, provided the tyre and tube faults are attributable to tyre manufacturer fault.
Dealers must assist customers with obtaining warranty from the tyre manufacturer where they believe there has been a defect in materials or factory workmanship. The tyre manufacturer will review the claim and, if approved, provide coverage based on Tyre Manufacturer warranty terms (e.g., pro-rata basis)
Radial Run-out & Road Force Concerns
Tyres returned under warranty for radial run-out or road force related concerns must be marked as indicated in the Workshop Manual, section 204-04 (i.e., 204-04A Wheels and Tires & 204-04B Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)). Failure to properly mark returned tyres may be subject to charge back.
NOTE: Dealers are not authorized to replace tyres with a different brand unless the original tyres are no longer available. Replacement requires verifying documentation to be kept in the customer's service file. Tyre brand changes for customer satisfaction purposes are not eligible under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Examples of Tyre Concern Code
- (TA1) Entire or partial tread separation from tyre
- (TA2) Tyre sidewall blowout or sudden air loss (not due to road hazard)
- (TA3) Bubble/Bulge in Sidewall (not due to lap-splice indentation or impact break)
- (TA4) Splits/Cracks in Sidewall/Tread (not separation)

Some vehicles are equipped with a Tyre Inflation Kit which includes an inflation pump and tyre sealant in lieu of a spare tyre, jack and lug wrench.
NOTE: Replacement of valve stem and TPMS module due to tyre sealant usage (for a non-warrantable repair) is not reimbursable under warranty.
A.3.13.73 Torque Converter Cleaning Requirements
Torque converters are required to be cleaned or flushed - not replaced, as guided by the WSM or other service publication.
Torque converters can be replaced only if one or more of the following conditions are met:
NOTE: Some discoloration near the welds would be expected and considered normal.
Refer to the Workshop Manual for proper procedure and tool requirements
NOTE: It is mandatory that proper equipment and procedures be used.
NOTE: In the event proper equipment is not available, hand cleaning per Shop Manual can be done but only if there is no metal contamination.
IMPORTANT: Contaminated converters must be sourced out to a properly equipped shop to be cleaned.
A.3.13.74 Towing & Roadside Assistance
In the event, that a vehicle needs to be towed, the Dealership must first check if the vehicle is covered by a Roadside Assistance agreement (RSA) prior to arranging for the vehicle to be towed. Towing is only reimbursable from where the vehicle has broken down to the nearest Dealer. Towing between Dealers or towing a vehicle that has a current Roadside Assistance agreement is not claimable under warranty.
The Dealership will need to inspect the vehicle and establish if there is a defect in factory materials or workmanship. If a warrantable defect has been found, then a claim for towing can be submitted.
NOTE: Prior Approval guidelines may still apply.
When submitting a Prior Approval or Claim for towing, please enter this as Repair 2 and use the causal part "TOWING" along with the appropriate Customer Concern Code and Condition Code. In the comments area, please include all of the following:
